The legal battle surrounding Aïda’s claim to be the daughter of former French footballer Marcel Desailly is ongoing. Aïda, 24, has long insisted that Desailly is her biological father, but the retired footballer has refused to acknowledge her as his child or undergo a paternity test. As a result, Aïda has taken the matter to court in hopes of gaining recognition as his legitimate daughter.
At a hearing this Thursday, Aïda’s lawyer explained that his client is not seeking financial compensation but rather the acknowledgment of her parentage. Despite not having her father listed on her birth certificate, Aïda has struggled with the stigma of being without a recognized father, especially given Desailly’s prominent media presence. Her lawyer emphasized the emotional toll this situation has had on her.
The Toulon prosecutor’s office has issued a favorable opinion on Aïda’s request for recognition of paternity, suggesting there is enough evidence to support her claim. A judgment on the case is expected on June 26. Desailly, who has previously denied the allegations, may still be required to undergo a genetic test, as the court proceedings continue to unfold.
