Togo has arrived in the capital of Benin to participate in the second edition of the African Cup of Nations at Maracana. The competition features two teams from each participating country – one comprising seniors aged between 35 and 45 years old, and the other consisting of veterans aged 45 years and above.
The opening ceremonies took place on Friday, marking the beginning of the tournament. Togo, defending the title of champion among seniors acquired in the first edition in Côte d’Ivoire, and holding the position of vice champion among veterans, is scheduled to play against Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday. This matchup replicates the final of the previous CAN.
Togo aims to bring back both trophies to Lomé. Five countries, including Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Niger, Togo, and the host country, are participating in this edition. Mali and Liberia initially confirmed their participation but later withdrew from the competition.
