Mandanda Praises Sirigu Ahead of Le Classique Clash
As the build-up intensifies for the eagerly awaited Le Classique between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille, Marseille’s captain and goalkeeper Steve Mandanda has offered praise for his Parisian counterpart Salvatore Sirigu.
Speaking to beIN Sports, Mandanda, who has been in strong form this season (29 years old, 11 Ligue 1 appearances), highlighted Sirigu’s presence and determination:
“He’s a very good goalkeeper. When he’s on the pitch, you can feel the desire not to concede a goal, the desire to win. On his line, he takes up a lot of space. He’s very, very strong.”
Sirigu, 27, has played 12 Ligue 1 matches this season and continues to be a key figure in PSG’s defensive setup. With Marseille’s attack spearheaded by André-Pierre Gignac, who has been in prolific form, it remains to be seen whether Mandanda’s teammates will find a way past the Italian shot-stopper.
The showdown at the Parc des Princes promises to be an intense encounter — not just a clash of clubs, but of goalkeeping titans.
