Manchester United’s Onana contemplates international future amidst frustration over African Cup of Nations experience

Manchester United’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana, is reevaluating his commitment to the Cameroon national team following a series of grievances during the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Onana, who plays a pivotal role as a shot-stopper for Manchester United, is reportedly discontented with the handling of his involvement in the AFCON, expressing dissatisfaction over the travel arrangements and subsequent selections during the tournament, as reported by The Mail.

The 27-year-old custodian found himself benched for a significant portion of Cameroon’s AFCON matches, culminating in an early exit from the tournament before reaching the quarter-finals.

This lack of game time and what Onana perceives as a disregard for his contribution has led him to reconsider his future representing Cameroon on the international stage.

The frustration surrounding his AFCON experience may prompt Onana to make the difficult decision to step back from international duties, as he weighs the impact on his career and aspirations at Manchester United.

As Onana contemplates his international future, Manchester United is poised to welcome him back into the squad for their upcoming clash against Wolves on Thursday.

The goalkeeper’s reevaluation comes at a critical juncture, raising questions about the dynamics between players and national teams and highlighting the challenges faced by footballers navigating commitments at both club and international levels.
