Manchester United are set to receive a fee from Anthony Elanga’s transfer from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United.
Transfer Insider Fabrizio Romano on Monday reported that the transfer of the Swedish forward of Cameroonian descent to Newcastle United is complete, pending an official announcement from the Magpies.
It is understood that Newcastle United are paying around £52 million plus performance-related bonuses to secure the services of Elanga.
Elanga has agreed to a five-year contract with the Tyneside club and is expected to undergo his medical in the next 48 hours. Barring any last-minute issues, he could link up with his new teammates before the week is out.
The 22-year-old winger joined Nottingham Forest from Manchester United in July 2023 and quickly cemented his status as a key figure in the squad.
Throughout 83 appearances in all competitions, Elanga contributed six goals and eleven assists, playing a pivotal role in Forest’s impressive seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season.
With the sell-on clause United inserted into the deal that sent Elanga to the City Ground, the Red Devils are now set to receive a significant share of the transfer fee.
This will increase the club’s finances as they look to sign players to augment their squad.
