Cameroon international Andre Onana is expected to face a stiffer competition at Manchester United as club target Preston North End goalkeeper Freddie Woodman as a backup keeper.
The Red Devils are exploring options to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the new season following Onana’s inconsistent performance this season.
Onana has faced numerous criticism this season, with Manchester United set to bolster their goalkeeping department for next season.
However, the three-time Champions League winners are said to have targeted the Preston shot stopper due to his impressive performance in the Championship this campaign.
The Red Devils are closely monitoring the 28-year-old goalkeeper, who could provide a tough competitions for the Cameroonian.
Woodman caught the club’s attention due to his consistency in the Championship, where he was named Player of the Year in his first season.
Additionally, the goalkeeper has Premier League experience, having played for Newcastle, and was a key player for England’s U-20 team that won the World Cup in 2017.
Woodman sustained an injury, causing him to miss the remainder of the current season, but his experience in various leagues, including the Championship, could play a role in a potential move to Manchester United.
