Manchester United table €70m bid for Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United table €70m bid for Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United have submitted a formal €70 million bid for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo as the Premier League giants continue their aggressive summer rebuild.

The offer was made on Tuesday, according to reports in the British press, as United push forward in their efforts to bolster their attacking options following the €75 million acquisition of Matheus Cunha.

Mbeumo, 25, has emerged as a key target in their plans to return to Europe’s elite, with manager Ruben Amorim keen to inject pace, versatility, and creativity into the front line.

Mbeumo, who is under contract with Brentford until 2027, was a standout performer for the Bees in the 2024–25 season, despite missing several weeks through injury.

He scored close to ten goals and registered multiple assists, underlining his consistency and impact even in a disrupted campaign.

His ability to operate across multiple attacking roles—whether as a central striker, on the wings, or in a supporting forward position—has made him a highly sought-after player.

Manchester United’s interest is mirrored by that of Tottenham Hotspur, who are also reportedly monitoring the Cameroonian international closely. Mbeumo’s energetic style, work rate, and tactical intelligence are seen as an ideal fit for Amorim’s high-pressing system.

United’s manager, who retained the backing of the club’s hierarchy despite a disappointing domestic season and a Europa League final defeat to Spurs, has made attacking reinforcements a central focus of his transfer strategy.

While the Red Devils are prepared to invest heavily to bring Mbeumo to Old Trafford, Brentford have yet to signal any intention of accepting the current offer.

The West London club are fully aware of the value their forward holds, both on the pitch and in the transfer market. Sources close to the club suggest that they are in no rush to finalise a deal, and may be looking to leverage growing interest to maximise their return.

The Cameroonian’s contributions last season were critical in helping Brentford remain competitive in the top flight, and his influence has only grown with time. Known for his quick feet, sharp decision-making in the final third, and relentless pressing off the ball, Mbeumo is widely seen as one of the Premier League’s most well-rounded attacking talents.

Whether Brentford can be persuaded to sell remains uncertain. With three years left on his contract, the club are under no immediate pressure to let him go, and negotiations are expected to be protracted.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are unlikely to walk away easily, especially with Amorim’s transfer strategy hinging on securing players capable of executing his tactical vision.

As the summer window gathers pace, Mbeumo’s future is one of the major storylines to watch. Should Brentford choose to cash in, it could pave the way for one of the summer’s biggest Premier League moves.

For now, though, the ball remains in the Bees’ court as they weigh Manchester United’s offer and consider their next steps.
