English giants, Manchester United have entered the race for the signature of Nigerian star Ademola Lookman.
As reported by Africasoccer on Monday, the Super Eagles livewire has decided to part ways with Italian Serie A outfit Atalanta at the end of the 2024/25 football season.
The decision was reportedly taken following his fallout with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
The tension between Lookman and Gasperini reached a boiling point after the coach harshly criticized him for missing a crucial penalty in Atalanta’s Champions League disaster against Club Brugge.
The coach described Lookman as the “worst penalty taker I’ve ever seen.”
The 27-year-old forward didn’t hold back, taking to social media with a fiery response, condemning the comments as disrespectful.
With the Nigerian keen on leaving Atalanta, he is believed to have several suitors. Not only Manchester United want to sign the forward but the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham are all believed to be interested.
