Manchester United open to selling England-Ghanaian midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in summer Transfer Window

Manchester United are willing to part ways with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo this summer if a suitable offer arrives for the talented youngster.

The English-Ghanaian midfielder was reportedly available for transfer during the winter market due to financial constraints at Old Trafford.

Despite signing a contract extension in February 2023, which runs for another two-and-a-half years, negotiations for a further extension have stalled, with United unwilling to meet his demands.

Mainoo was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the recently closed transfer window, but a deal failed to materialize.

With the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) placing financial pressure on United, the club is being forced to consider difficult decisions regarding its squad.

Past financial missteps have caught up with the club, making the sale of homegrown talents like Mainoo a financially attractive option, as any transfer fee received would be considered ‘pure profit’ under PSR regulations.

As a result, United officials are reluctantly open to offers for Mainoo and other key players ahead of what is expected to be another challenging transfer window.

However, such a move would likely trigger backlash from supporters, a factor that INEOS will have to weigh carefully as they plan the club’s summer transfer strategy.
