Manager Ruben Amorim has revealed that Manchester United are on the verge of finalizing a new contract for forward Amad Diallo.
The Cote d’Ivoire international has emerged as a standout player under the Portuguese coach since his appointment in November.
The 22-year-old’s impressive performances have put him in line for a lucrative new deal, reflecting his importance to the squad.
Diallo struggled for playing time during Erik ten Hag’s tenure, and his future appeared uncertain after being benched in a Europa League match against Fenerbahce in October.
However, Amorim has praised Diallo’s contributions, stating that the club is “near” to reaching an agreement on a contract extension.
Currently, Diallo’s contract is set to expire in the summer, although United holds the option to extend it for an additional year.
The club has been engaged in discussions for a longer-term deal, recognizing Diallo’s recent positive impact on the team.
He played a crucial role in a thrilling comeback victory against Manchester City, where he scored a late goal, and has accumulated five goals and seven assists across all competitions this season.
