Manchester United launch bold bid for Victor Osimhen in ambitious summer overhaul

Manchester United have submitted a sensational proposal to Napoli for striker Victor Osimhen, as the Premier League side seeks to revamp its attack following a season of profound disappointment.

The Red Devils, fresh off a humiliating 15th-place finish in the league and still reeling from a shock 1-0 defeat to a local team during their ongoing Asian tour, are reportedly prepared to offer Rasmus Højlund plus €40 million in exchange for the Nigerian forward.

United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, is spearheading a recruitment drive aimed at restoring the club’s former stature, with Osimhen identified as a top priority.

Despite investing €120 million in attacking duo Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, United’s frontline misfired throughout the season.

Højlund managed just 10 goals and four assists across 52 appearances, while Zirkzee found the net only seven times and contributed three assists in 49 outings.

The lack of firepower has heightened pressure on the club’s leadership to find a more prolific and reliable goal-scorer.

Osimhen, 26, enjoyed a phenomenal campaign on loan at Galatasaray, tallying 36 goals and eight assists in just 40 matches.

His resurgence has reignited United’s interest in a player long admired at Old Trafford.

Italian broadcaster Kiss Kiss Napoli reports that United director Matt Hargreaves has already met with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Giovanni Manna to table the proposed swap deal.

The offer reportedly includes Danish striker Højlund, who is no stranger to Italian football after his breakthrough spell at Atalanta, along with a €40 million cash incentive.

Napoli are believed to be giving serious consideration to the package, especially given their interest in rebuilding with younger talent familiar with Serie A.

However, Manchester United’s pursuit is far from straightforward.

Saudi giants Al-Hilal have emerged as a powerful contender for Osimhen’s signature, having reportedly tabled a lucrative three-year contract worth €120 million.

The Saudi offer represents a formidable challenge, combining both financial appeal and the prospect of being a marquee player in the Middle East.

For now, Manchester United remain firmly in the race, banking on the lure of Premier League football and the promise of leading a new era under Amorim to convince Osimhen to choose Old Trafford over Riyadh.

The coming weeks could prove decisive as the transfer window heats up.
