Manchester United joins the race for Abdoul Karim Coulibaly this summer
Manchester United has reportedly joined the growing list of European clubs vying for 18-year-old defender Abdoul Karim Coulibaly, currently at Werder Bremen.
The young German-Ivorian has emerged as one of the most sought-after defensive prospects in Europe. Clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Napoli, and Real Madrid have all been linked with the teenager.
According to Sky Sport, Manchester United are now also monitoring the player’s situation closely.
Despite the wide interest, Coulibaly reportedly dreams of joining PSG, with the French club having already made contact with the defender. However, formal negotiations with Werder Bremen have yet to take place.
Coulibaly remains under contract with Werder Bremen until June 2029. The German club has made it clear that it will not let its prized asset go for a reduced fee, reportedly demanding between €40 million and €50 million for a potential transfer—a figure that could set a record for the club.
Currently valued at €22 million on Transfermarkt, Coulibaly has made 22 Bundesliga appearances this season, scoring once.
His combination of defensive solidity and potential for growth has made him a key figure for Werder Bremen, while simultaneously drawing attention from some of Europe’s elite clubs.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Coulibaly’s situation is expected to be one of the most closely watched stories. His next move could mark a major step in his career and potentially reshape Werder Bremen’s financial landscape.
