Premier League giants Manchester United have initiated discussions to sign Nigerian international Victor Osimhen as the summer transfer window approaches.
The Red Devils are seeking to strengthen their attack for the upcoming campaign following an inconsistent performance, particularly in the Premier League.
With Osimhen set for a permanent departure from Napoli this summer, Manchester United have stepped up to snap up the highly-profiled attacker.
The former Serie A goal king is expected to return to Napoli at the end of his loan spell with Galatasaray in June, with a permanent move looking highly impossible.
Osimhen has easily settled in with Galatasaray, netting 33 goals and 8 assists in 37 games in all competitions.
The Nigeria international is keen on joining the Premier League, with Manchester United being considered as one of the clubs to meet his €12m per year wage demands.
Manchester United drew up a 4-man shortlist to identify their next striker. Among these names are Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Sporting Portugal’s Victor Gyokeres. The Swede appears to be Manchester United’s priority, mainly in the event of Champions League qualification, which would be obtained by winning the Europa League.
But it seems Manchester United are keeping their options open. Indeed, the Red Devils have reportedly met Osimhen’s entourage on Monday as the club pushes to secure his signature.
Meanwhile, Napoli are said to be demanding €75m for the transfer of the enterprising forward.
