Manchester United are eying a move to sign France-born forward of Congolese descent, Christopher Nkunku.
According to sources, the Red Devils have formally contacted Chelsea to inquire about the possibility of securing the services of the forward.
Already, several reports have indicated that the 27-year-old attacker is set to leave the London-based club this summer.
Since his high-profile move from RB Leipzig, Nkunku has struggled to find consistency in West London, hampered largely by injury setbacks. Last season, he was used sparingly by manager Enzo Maresca, featuring mostly in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Although the former Paris Saint-Germain player is currently with Chelsea’s squad at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, a move away from the Blues appears imminent.
A report by L’Équipe indicates that Manchester United are eager to strengthen their attack this summer, despite missing out on European football. Having already signed Matheus Cunha, the club is seeking to add at least two more forwards.
Manchester United have reportedly initiated discussions with Nkunku’s representatives, although no official bid has been submitted to Chelsea.
