Manchester United consider move to sign French-Congolese striker Jean-Philippe Mateta
Manchester United are reportedly considering a move to sign France striker of Congolese descent Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Jean-Philippe Mateta, 27, has enjoyed a good campaign with Crystal Palace in the 2024/25 football season.
He played a key role in the team’s campaign in the English FA Cup, helping the team to beat Manchester City in the finals to clinch the trophy.
In the season under review, Jean-Philippe Mateta scored 17 goals and provided four assists after making 45 appearances in all competitions for Crystal Palace.
With the summer transfer window upon us, the Frenchman is now said to be a transfer target of several clubs in Europe.
Among the clubs interested in signing Jean-Philippe Mateta is Manchester United. The English giants struggled to compete in the English Premier League in the 2024/25 football season and want to recruit players to augment the squad of the team.
Sources have revealed that Manchester United will make formal contact with the player next week in a bid to convince him to join in the off-season.
