Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandez has thrown his weight behind Cameroon goalkeeper despite Viktoria Plzen blunder.
Onana’s mistake gave Viktoria Plzen the lead in the second half of the Europa League clash on Thursday.
The Premier League outfit had to come from behind to snatch an important away win, courtesy Rasmus Hojlund’s brace in the 66th and 88th-minute marks respectively.
Before this game, Onana had contributed to his outfit dismal defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
But the Portuguese midfielder in an interview stood firmly behind the Cameroon shot stopper.
“We want to play from the back,” United’s skipper told TNT Sports. “We have to make the decision that is the right one. Andre thought that Matty [De Ligt] could get to the ball, he missed the pass, they scored a goal, but that’s nothing that we have to focus about.
“You have to focus on what’s the best solution that we can do it in the future, but it’s not about Andre making the mistake. We don’t look at individuals here when something happens in the wrong side or the good side.
