Brighton’s rising star Carlos Baleba has emerged as a major transfer target for Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Chelsea as the summer window approaches.
The 21-year-old Cameroonian, who has impressed with his dynamic performances this season, is at the centre of growing interest from top European clubs.
Chelsea are reported to have already initiated discussions with the Douala-born midfielder and his representatives, with negotiations currently underway.
Manchester United have also stepped up their efforts to lure Baleba to Old Trafford, having been thoroughly impressed by his profile and potential.
Club scouts have reportedly delivered glowing assessments, prompting the Red Devils to intensify talks in hopes of securing a deal.
Chelsea could be ready to table an initial offer for the versatile midfielder.
Brighton, however, have placed a hefty valuation on Baleba, reportedly exceeding €100 million.
Currently plying his trade at Brighton & Hove Albion, Baleba has established himself as one of the most promising young talents in the Premier League.
In the ongoing season, he has featured in 36 matches across all competitions, clocking up 2,831 minutes of playing time, scoring four goals, and providing two assists.
Despite strong links to Manchester United and Chelsea, former Cameroon international Patrick Tchoutang believes another English club could be the ideal destination.
“Liverpool is the club that would best suit Carlos Baleba,” Tchoutang said, reflecting on the midfielder’s style of play and development potential.
Baleba remains under contract with Brighton until 30 June 2028, with the club holding an option to extend the deal by an additional year.
His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, stands at approximately €35 million.
The midfielder earns an annual salary of €756,162 (equivalent to 491,505,300 FCFA) at the south coast club.
Brighton, who are preparing for their Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Matchday 35, face the prospect of fielding one of England’s most sought-after young players as speculation over his future continues to mount.
