Manchester United eye move for Cameroonian forward Karl Etta Eyong amid Barcelona interest

Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Cameroonian striker Etta Eyong, whose explosive start to life at Levante has made him one of the most sought-after young players in Spanish football.

The 22-year-old forward, who joined Levante from Villarreal in September for just €3.8 million, has seen his market value soar after a stunning run of form in LaLiga.

Eyong’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. Since his transfer, he has scored four goals and registered one assist in his first five league appearances, quickly becoming a key figure for Levante.

His performances have not only drawn admiration from fans but have also caught the attention of European heavyweights, with both Barcelona and Manchester City monitoring his progress closely.

Details of the transfer, revealed in Levante’s economic viability report to shareholders, show just how shrewd the deal was for the Valencia-based club.

However, the agreement with Villarreal includes several clauses that could complicate any move next summer.

If an offer exceeding €15 million arrives, Levante are obliged to sell and share 20 percent of the capital gain with Villarreal.

Should they refuse such an offer, they must pay Villarreal compensation equivalent to that same gain.

Villarreal also retain a right of first refusal, allowing them to match any incoming bid and buy back the player if they wish.

Eyong’s contract reportedly includes a €30 million release clause — a figure that now appears modest given his performances and rapid market rise.

Eyong, who scored 19 goals for Villarreal’s reserve side last season, has already established himself as a full international for Cameroon.

With interest mounting and his valuation now standing at around €20 million, the young striker looks destined for a major transfer battle next summer.
