Manchester City supporters lit up social media after Egypt’s exit from AFCON 2025, focusing their reactions on forward Omar Marmoush following the 1–0 defeat to Senegal in Tangier.

The Egyptian attacker started, completed the full 90 minutes, but struggled to seriously threaten Senegal’s goal before Sadio Mané struck the decisive 78th‑minute winner.

Manchester City fans on X were less upset about Egypt’s elimination than excited about Marmoush’s imminent return to club duty. Some described him as “unlucky” with his national team, while urging Pep Guardiola to “put Marmoush straight back in the starting XI” once he is back in Manchester.

Others admitted they had expected Egypt to lose as soon as Guardiola mentioned in his press conference that Erling Haaland was fatigued and that City “needed Marmoush back”, seeing it as a bad omen for the Pharaohs.

Several posts downplayed the AFCON third‑place match, calling it “a meaningless game” and insisting the forward should return immediately to help City’s title push, underlining how highly the fanbase now values the Egyptian forward.
