Manchester United are being linked with a move for RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba, with the France-Angola defender rated at around €45.00m.

The 23-year-old, listed at Leipzig with a market value of €45.00m on Transfermarkt, is the subject of fresh speculation over a potential switch from the Bundesliga to the Premier League, with the deal currently carrying an unspecified probability (“?”) of happening. There is no public information on the length of Lukeba’s contract in Germany, raising the prospect that he could move closer to the end of his deal or run it down to test the market as a free agent in future windows.

Lukeba, a left-footed centre-back who wears the number 23 shirt at Leipzig, was born in Lyon on 17 December 2002 and stands at 1.84m. Eligible for both France and Angola, he is described as a “Defender – Centre-Back” and has been operating in one of Europe’s most scouted defensive lines in the Bundesliga. His performances for Leipzig have helped maintain his status as one of the more highly valued young central defenders in Germany’s top flight.

Leipzig, currently competing in the Bundesliga, would be reluctant to lose a key defensive asset below his valuation, but United’s ongoing search for defensive reinforcements has led to the former Lyon prospect being closely monitored. With his contract situation at Leipzig not detailed publicly and no expiry date listed, the possibility of him eventually leaving on a free agent basis, should talks stall, cannot be dismissed.

Any move to Old Trafford would offer Lukeba a first taste of Premier League football and represent a major step in his career, potentially enhancing his reputation on a bigger stage and shaping his long-term prospects at both club and international level if the transfer were to materialise.
