Manchester United academy prospect Bendito Mantato is set to extend his stay at the club after reaching an agreement on a new deal.
The 17-year-old winger, who has Angolan heritage, is regarded as one of the brightest talents in the Red Devils’ youth system, and securing his long-term future has been a priority for the club.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, technical director Jason Wilcox played a pivotal role in negotiations, ensuring that Mantato remains part of United’s plans.
Originally a full-back, the teenager has flourished in a more advanced role on the right wing, where his blistering pace and technical ability have drawn comparisons to Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.
He has been in outstanding form this season, netting six goals in 10 Premier League U18 appearances.
Romano reports that the contract extension is nearly finalized, with manager Ruben Amorim eager to integrate Mantato into the senior squad in the near future.
“Bendito Mantato, set to sign new deal at Man United as part of the project for present and future.”
“The agreement is almost done for 2008 talent to stay and extend, with Amorim keen on giving him first team debut soon.”
Mantato was recently involved in first-team training, signaling his growing importance in United’s long-term vision.
Meanwhile, the club is also working to secure a new contract for midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, aiming to fend off interest from rival clubs.
With financial constraints affecting summer recruitment, Manchester United are prioritizing the retention and development of their most promising young players.
