Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo set to join Manchester United in big-money move

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo in a transfer worth up to £71 million, according to The Athletic.

The Cameroon international, who made clear his preference to join United ahead of other suitors, is now on the verge of completing the move.

The transfer package includes an initial fee of £65 million to be paid in four instalments, with a further £6 million in performance-related add-ons.

United intensified their pursuit of the 26-year-old forward in recent weeks, submitting an improved bid after Brentford rejected two earlier offers.

Their final offer meets Brentford’s valuation, which was set higher than the £62.5 million United spent on Matheus Cunha earlier this window.

Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals and provided eight assists in all 38 Premier League games last season, will become United’s third signing of the summer after Cunha and Paraguayan teenager Diego Leon.

His consistent form for Brentford has drawn attention from several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the winger had already informed Brentford and Spurs of his desire to move to Old Trafford if a transfer materialised.

The French-born forward of Cameroonian descent joined Brentford from Troyes in 2019 and played a key role in the club’s rise to the Premier League in 2021.

Over five seasons, he has amassed 242 appearances, scoring 70 goals and assisting 51 times across all competitions.

The transfer marks a significant step for Ruben Amroim’s side as they look to reshape their attack with a proven Premier League performer.

Final paperwork and personal terms are being completed, with the official announcement expected in the coming days.
