Leicester City talent, Jeremy Monga, has become a sought-after player for top European clubs, with Man City reportedly the front runners for the signature of the youngster.
The teenager has been on the bench for Leicester’s first team, notably during their FA Cup fourth-round match against Manchester United earlier this month.
Monga has also captained England’s Under-16s, showcasing his leadership qualities on the international stage.
In the current season, the 15-year-old has featured in Leicester’s Under-21 EFL Trophy matches and was included in the squad for a recent FA Cup match.
He has made seven appearances in Premier League 2, contributing a goal and an assist. Additionally, he has earned eight caps for England’s Under-16s, scoring against Denmark last month.
Given his age, Monga cannot sign a professional contract until he turns 17 in July 2026.
This situation means that if he were to transfer to another club before then, a compensation fee would need to be agreed upon, or the matter would go to a tribunal to determine the amount.
Leicester City, currently facing a relegation battle, is keen to retain Monga, hoping that first-team opportunities might persuade him to stay.
However, the financial prowess of clubs like Manchester City presents a significant challenge. One potential solution could involve selling Monga and loaning him back to Leicester, allowing him to gain regular first-team experience.
