Senegal goalkeeper Mamour Ndiaye set to complete AS Saint-Étienne move
AS Saint-Étienne are reportedly on course to complete the signing of Senegalese goalkeeper Mamour Ndiaye after resolving the contractual issues that had threatened to derail the transfer.
The move had appeared close to collapse despite an agreement already being reached between the French club and Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08.
However, the latest reports suggest that discussions between all parties have successfully cleared the remaining obstacles, allowing the transfer to move forward once again.
Ndiaye had already agreed personal terms with Saint-Étienne, while the two clubs had also settled on a transfer fee believed to be around €1 million.
Even so, negotiations over contractual details delayed the completion of the deal at a stage when the goalkeeper’s arrival had appeared imminent.
According to Foot Mercato, further talks between the player and the clubs have produced a positive outcome. The transfer is now expected to be finalised in the coming days, bringing an end to uncertainty surrounding the Senegal international’s future.
Despite the delay, Ndiaye reportedly remained in Saint-Étienne throughout the negotiations instead of returning home, underlining his determination to complete the move and begin the next stage of his career with Les Verts.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Sarpsborg 08 in Norway’s Eliteserien, making 29 appearances during the season.
His performances established him as one of the club’s key players and attracted interest from Saint-Étienne, who identified him as an important addition to their squad during the summer transfer window.
His expected arrival would make him the French club’s third signing of the transfer window as they continue strengthening the squad ahead of the new campaign.
With the contractual disagreements now reportedly settled, only the final formalities remain before the move becomes official. Unless there is an unexpected change in the coming days, Ndiaye is set to complete his transfer from Sarpsborg 08 and begin his career with AS Saint-Étienne.
For the Senegalese goalkeeper, the agreement represents the conclusion of a transfer saga that briefly cast doubt over his future before negotiations brought the proposed move back on track.
