Mamelodi Sundowns v USM Alger CAF Super Cup likely to be played in October

A report has suggested that the CAF Super Cup clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and USM Alger could take place in South Africa, with Pretoria emerging as the likely host city.

Sundowns secured their place in the one-off fixture after winning the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, defeating FAR Rabat in the final.

Their opponents, USM Alger, booked their ticket by lifting the CAF Confederation Cup title after overcoming Zamalek.

While the Confederation of African Football is yet to make an official announcement on the date and venue, WinWin reports that the match is expected to be staged in October 2026, with Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria strongly considered as the venue.

The decision is reportedly influenced by the tradition of hosting the Super Cup at the home ground of the Champions League winners.

The Super Cup champions will earn $500,000, while the runners-up are set to receive half that amount.

Sundowns have previously tasted success in the competition, winning the Super Cup in 2017 after a 1–0 victory over TP Mazembe.
