Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lucas Ribeiro wins Goal and Player of the Month awards in South African Premier League

Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Lucas Ribeiro has won the South African Premier League Player of the Month award following an impressive performance.

The 26-year-old forward was outstanding for Sundowns in May, earning him the top award at the expense of others. His sensational free-kick against Magesi was also voted Goal of the Month.

Ribeiro delivered a top class performance, as his outfit secured five victories and a draw in the six matches played in the said month.

Sundowns endured an amazing campaign in the recently concluded season, amazing 73 points from 28 matches to secure the Premier League title.

Having clinched the league title, Cardoso will be hoping to secure the CAF Champions League for Sundowns for the first time since 2016.

Sundowns faces a daunting task on Sunday in the CAF Champions League final and playing out a 1-1 draw with Pyramids in the first leg tie held at Pretoria.

Pyramids will play host to Sundowns in the second leg of the final, as both teams battle for the ultimate title.
