Mamelodi Sundowns emerged victorious against TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo with a 1-0 win on Saturday evening in the context of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League, thereby securing the top spot in Group Pyramids.
The two teams clashed at the ‘Atteridgeville Supersport Stadium’ as part of the sixth and final round of matches in Group A of the CAF Champions League.
Namibian forward Peter Shalulile netted the sole goal of the match for the South African side in the 38th minute from a penalty kick.
With this result, Mamelodi Sundowns topped the Group A standings with 13 points, comprising four wins, one draw, and a single defeat.
TP Mazembe follows with 10 points, accumulating three wins, one draw, and two losses.
In the same group’s competitions, a positive draw settled the match between Pyramids and FC Nouadhibou from Mauritania, with both teams scoring two goals each.
Consequently, the Mauritanian side concluded the group stage in third place with 5 points, comprising one win, two draws, and three losses.
Meanwhile, Pyramids FC occupies the bottom spot in Group A with 5 points as well, having secured one win, one draw, and three losses, with FC Nouadhibou edging ahead based on direct head-to-head results.
