Mamelodi Sundowns confirm Miguel Reisinho’s departure after just one season

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the departure of Portuguese midfielder Miguel Reisinho after only one season with the club.

The CAF Champions League champions announced on Friday, through their social media platforms, that Reisinho had left the team. The confirmation came after the player had already publicly said goodbye several weeks earlier.

Reisinho used his personal Instagram account on 7 August to announce his departure from the South African club. He is understood to have left Mamelodi Sundowns by mutual agreement, bringing a short spell at Chloorkop to an end.

The midfielder joined Masandawana as a free agent in September 2025 after leaving Portuguese club Boavista. However, he struggled to establish himself as a regular first-team player during his time in South Africa.

Reisinho made six appearances for Mamelodi Sundowns across all competitions and scored once. His limited involvement meant that he became a largely forgotten figure in the club’s squad before his exit was formally confirmed.

The club’s announcement now closes the chapter on his brief stay with the Brazilians. No details have been given about Reisinho’s next destination.

Mamelodi Sundowns will now turn their attention to domestic cup football as they attempt to recover from a first-leg defeat in the MTN8 semi-finals.
