Mamelodi Sundowns complete late deal for AmaZulu defender Wandile Dube

Mamelodi Sundowns have completed the signing of promising defender Wandile Dube from AmaZulu, after securing the deal shortly before the PSL transfer window closed on Monday.

The 22-year-old, who plays as a left-sided centre-back, is viewed as a player with an important role to play in Sundowns’ long-term plans. His arrival concludes a busy period of recruitment for the club, who had been seeking additional cover in central defence.

Dube will compete with Khulumani Ndamane for the left-sided centre-back position, giving head coach Miguel Cardoso another option in that area of the team.

Sundowns had been monitoring Dube’s progress for some time and were determined to bring him to the club. However, he had not made an appearance for AmaZulu before completing his move, meaning Sundowns’ technical team may need to focus on his fitness before he is considered for a place in the matchday squad.

The defender made 10 appearances for Usuthu in all competitions last season, having been promoted to the first team during the 2024/25 campaign.

Dube’s transfer was the final addition to a wide-ranging recruitment drive by Sundowns during the window. The club also signed Antonio van Wyk, Cassius Mailula, Siyanda Ndlovu, Katlego Ntsabeleng on a permanent deal, Deano van Rooyen, Thabo Cele and Thabang Matuludi.

With Dube now added to the squad, Sundowns have strengthened their options in defence while continuing to develop a group capable of supporting the club’s future plans.
