Mamelodi Sundowns begin Betway Premiership campaign at TS Galaxy

Mamelodi Sundowns will begin their Betway Premiership campaign away to TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday evening, with both sides looking to build on contrasting starts to the new domestic season.

The match in Nelspruit is Sundowns’ opening league fixture after their scheduled meeting with Marumo Gallants was postponed. Their pre-season tour had been delayed following the passing of Jayden Adams.

Miguel Cardoso’s side did make their competitive return at the weekend, beating Polokwane City 3-2 after extra time in the MTN8 on Sunday. They now turn their attention to the league, where they will be aiming to make an immediate impression.

TS Galaxy were not involved in the MTN8 over the weekend. They have already played once in the Betway Premiership, drawing 2-2 with Siwelele FC in their opening match.

Galaxy will take confidence from their most recent meeting with Sundowns. They won the final game of last season 3-2, a result that damaged the Brazilians’ hopes of securing the title.

The two teams have now named their starting line-ups for the contest.

TS Galaxy will start with Tape in goal, supported by Motaung, Zulu, Mncwango and Kokora in defence. Nkosi and Mvelase are also included, while Mahlambi, Zindoga, Letsoalo and George complete the side.
