Mamadou Sangaré: central midfield talent linked with Man Utd move in England

Mamadou Sangaré is being linked with a move from RC Lens to Manchester United, with the Mali midfielder’s rapid rise in value putting him on the radar of the Premier League club.

Reports in transfer columns suggest United are monitoring the 23-year-old central midfielder, who is currently valued at €15.00m. The probability of a deal remains unclear, with the move listed as “?” in recent market reports, underlining that talks – if any – are at an early and speculative stage.

Sangaré is under contract at Lens, but with no public information on the length of that deal in the available data, the possibility of him moving on a reduced-fee deal or even running down his agreement to become a free agent in future windows cannot be ruled out by observers. His valuation has climbed sharply over the past few seasons, rising from €8m at Lens in October 2025 to €15m by mid-December, reflecting his growing influence in Ligue 1.

Born in Bamako on 26 June 2002, the left-footed midfielder has followed a well-travelled development path. After leaving Malian side Yeelen Olympique for Red Bull Salzburg in 2020, he had a series of loans at FC Liefering, Grazer AK, Zulte Waregem and TSV Hartberg, gaining experience in Austria’s second tier, the Austrian Bundesliga and the Belgian top flight. A permanent move to Rapid Vienna in 2024 preceded his switch to Lens, where further progress has pushed him into a higher price bracket.

Sangaré is primarily listed as a central midfielder, and United’s interest would fit a broader search for energetic, technically secure options in that area of the pitch. With no fee or timetable agreed, any transfer remains firmly in the realm of rumour, but a move to Old Trafford would mark the next major step in a career that has already spanned several European leagues and could significantly shape his profile on the global stage if it materialises.
