Mamadou Diop: AJ Auxerre sign 2.04m Grenoble goalkeeper in Ligue 1 move
AJ Auxerre have signed goalkeeper Mamadou Diop from Grenoble Foot 38 in a completed move ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, with the 26-year-old leaving the Ligue 2 club for a step up to Ligue 1. The transfer has been finalised with the fee undisclosed.
Diop arrives at the Abbe-Deschamps after a four-year spell at Grenoble, where he moved in 2022 from FC Chambly Oise. The Mauritania- and Senegal-eligible keeper is listed at 2.04m tall and plays primarily as a goalkeeper with his right foot, offering AJ Auxerre significant physical presence in their defensive unit.
Born in Guediawaye on 3 January 2000, Diop has built his career in French football, progressing from Istres Football Clubs youth ranks to FC Gueugnon, then Chambly and Grenoble. His move to Auxerre marks his first transfer into a Ligue 1 club following experience in the lower divisions.
Diops rise has been reflected in his market valuation, which has climbed from 50,000 in late 2021 during his time at Chambly to 1.5 million by March 2026 while at Grenoble. That increase has coincided with his development into a first-team-level goalkeeper and underpins the significance of his switch to a top-flight side.
Diop will wear the number 23 shirt at AJ Auxerre, joining the club as they prepare for the 2026-27 Ligue 1 season.
