In response to circulating rumors, Olympique de Béja player Malik Shweikh took to his social media page on Monday evening, January 8, 2024, to clarify the situation regarding his reported refusal to sit on the substitute bench during the Super Cup match against Étoile du Sahel, where he allegedly left the field before the game commenced.
Shweikh stated, “Today, I decided to speak about what happened, especially since I have been silent about it for a while after what occurred yesterday.
I only realized I was excluded from the squad when the coach informed me, and everyone knows this.
At that moment, I felt frustrated and left the stadium immediately.
It seems like people misunderstood the situation, claiming that I refused to sit on the bench.”
He added, “During other matches, when I wasn’t playing, I would be on the bench supporting my friends.
I was content with being a choice made by the coach, and I respected that.”
Concluding his statement, Shweikh emphasized, “I have never turned my back on Olympique de Béja, the club that taught me many things and provided me with opportunities to play and showcase my skills.
I have never denied these facts. Strange things are happening that people outside may not understand.
I put my trust in God, and He knows the truth.
I hold accountable anyone who contributed to tarnishing my reputation.”
