Malik Opoola switches Italian clubs as Varesina secure Nigeria winger

Nigeria winger Malik Opoola has joined Varesina from Bisceglie on a free transfer, giving the 21-year-old a new club in Italy’s Serie D.

Opoola, who plays on the right side of attack, completed the move on 5 September 2026 and has signed a contract running until 30 June 2027. He becomes a Varesina player after only a short spell with Bisceglie, where he arrived from Nocerina earlier in the summer.

The transfer represents another change of club for Opoola during a busy period of his career in Italian football. Before joining Bisceglie on 4 August, he had spent the 2025-26 season with Nocerina, also moving there as a free agent after leaving Carrarese.

His time at Carrarese included a loan move to Casarano during the 2024-25 campaign. He later returned to Carrarese before moving to Nocerina, continuing a career that has featured several changes of club and temporary spells in the Italian lower leagues.

Opoola began his senior career with Brindisi, joining from Valle Giovanili in August 2022. He made the switch to Carrarese as a free agent the following year, before spending part of the 2023-24 season on loan at Brindisi. That arrangement ended in June 2024, when he returned to Carrarese.

The Nigerian has already featured for Varesina in the 2026-27 Coppa Italia Serie D, making one appearance. He was used for 11 minutes and did not score in the competition.

Varesina are the latest club to add Opoola to their squad, with the player now continuing his development as a right winger in Serie D. His move from Bisceglie was completed without a transfer fee, and his contract with the club runs through the end of June 2027.
