Malian midfielder Mahamadou Doumbia attracts growing interest as European clubs target Royal Antwerp star

Royal Antwerp midfielder Mahamadou Doumbia is drawing increasing interest from top clubs across Europe, with a host of sides tracking the Malian youngster ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old, under contract with Antwerp until 2027, has emerged as one of the breakout performers of the Belgian Pro League season.

His commanding displays in midfield have not only made him a central figure at the club but also turned heads well beyond Belgium’s borders.

Doumbia’s rise has sparked serious interest from several of Europe’s biggest names. Italian powerhouses Juventus and Napoli are among the clubs reportedly monitoring his progress closely, with both sides aiming to strengthen their midfield options ahead of next season.

Their scouts have been following the Bamako-born talent, impressed by his physicality, composure on the ball and tactical intelligence.

The list of admirers continues to grow, with Premier League duo Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton joining the chase. Known for their focus on emerging talent, both English clubs are believed to be assessing Doumbia as a long-term investment.

Meanwhile, La Liga side Sevilla are also in the mix, with reports suggesting the Spanish outfit have been tracking the player’s performances in recent months.

Doumbia’s current market valuation is believed to be around €7 million, but with multiple clubs showing concrete interest, that figure could rise quickly.

Antwerp are well aware of the mounting attention and are not expected to part ways with the midfielder for anything less than a significant offer.

Despite securing Doumbia’s services with a contract extension that ties him to the club until 2027, Antwerp are said to be open to negotiations.

According to several reliable sources, the Belgian champions have set an asking price in the region of €15 million to €20 million.

The club views the midfielder as one of their most valuable assets and intends to hold firm unless a substantial bid is presented.

Doumbia’s performances this season have underscored his potential. His consistency, maturity beyond his years, and growing influence in central areas have not only earned him regular starts but also solidified his reputation as one of the league’s most promising young players.

Royal Antwerp are preparing for what could be a busy summer. While they remain keen to retain Doumbia, club officials recognise that interest of this magnitude from clubs competing in the Champions League and top domestic leagues may ultimately be difficult to resist.

As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Doumbia’s next move. Whether he remains in Belgium to continue his development or secures a high-profile transfer abroad, the Malian midfielder is poised to be one of the most talked-about young players in Europe over the coming months.
