FEMAFOOT begins process to appoint new Mali coach

The Malian Football Federation has confirmed that 28 candidates have applied for the vacant head coach position of the Mali national team as the search for a new manager of the Eagles gathers pace.

FEMAFOOT’s Executive Committee announced that the applications have now been officially received and will be reviewed by a specially appointed technical committee tasked with selecting the most suitable candidate for the role.

According to the federation, the committee has been given one week to analyse the profiles submitted and identify the coach capable of leading Mali’s ambitions in upcoming international competitions.

The recruitment process represents a significant step for Malian football as the federation looks to strengthen the national team structure and prepare for future challenges on the continental and global stage.

While the search for a new coach continues, FEMAFOOT is also working on preparations for the next international break.

Discussions are currently ongoing regarding the organisation of a high-profile friendly match scheduled to take place between June 1 and June 9. The federation views the potential fixture as an important opportunity to maintain the momentum of the national team and ensure the players remain competitive ahead of official matches later in the year.

Alongside sporting matters, the federation also announced a renewed commitment to improving the administration and governance of football in the country.

New strategic measures aimed at strengthening financial transparency and modernising the institution were presented during the Executive Committee meeting.

FEMAFOOT stated that the reforms are intended to improve operational efficiency while creating a more stable and professional environment around the national team.

The federation’s latest decisions reflect broader efforts to reorganise Malian football both on and off the pitch as the country seeks greater consistency at international level.

Attention will now turn to the technical committee, which faces the important task of narrowing down the list of 28 candidates before a final decision is made on who will take charge of the Eagles.

The appointment is expected to play a major role in shaping Mali’s direction in the coming years, with supporters waiting to see who will eventually be entrusted with leading one of Africa’s most competitive national teams.
