Mainz show interest in Goztepe’s Tunisian-French midfielder Amin Cherni

Tunisian-French midfielder Amin Cherni is the subject of a reported move from Goztepe to Bundesliga club Mainz.

The 25-year-old left midfielder joined Goztepe from French side Stade Lavallois in July 2025 for a reported €250,000 fee and is under contract until 30 June 2028. His current market value is listed at €3.5m.

Cherni has made one appearance in the Turkish Super Lig this season, playing 90 minutes. He has not scored or registered an assist during the campaign.

A move to Germany would represent a change of league for Cherni, who has spent his career in France and Turkey. Before joining Goztepe, he played for Stade Lavallois after spells with FC Chambly Oise and Paris 13 Atletico.

The reported interest comes with Cherni still contracted to Goztepe for almost two more seasons. The rumour is currently given a 12% probability, with no indication that an agreement has been reached between the clubs or that personal terms have been settled.

Goztepe signed Cherni after he had developed through the Paris FC youth system, with his move to Turkey marking the first transfer of his senior career outside France. Mainz’s reported interest would therefore offer the midfielder a potential route into the Bundesliga, although his limited league involvement at the start of the current season remains part of the context surrounding the speculation.
