Mahmoud Khatib prioritizes stadium project and titles as Al Ahly's path forward

Al Ahly chairman Mahmoud Khatib concluded his electoral campaign ahead of next week’s board elections, emphasizing the club’s new stadium as a transformative project representing decades of fan aspirations.

“Stadium Al-Ahly was the big dream that captivated fans and the club’s family for years. We succeeded in turning it into tangible reality through hard work and precise planning.”

Khatib reiterated Al-Ahly’s philosophy that accepting titles and trophies alone satisfies the club’s legacy. “The club competes across 19 different sports, and by nature, Al-Ahly accepts nothing but competing for titles, because a first-place culture is part of its history and identity.”

Addressing the establishment of three company branches, El-Khatib explained they provide sustainable financial resources balancing sporting excellence with stability befitting Africa’s largest club. He highlighted Al-Ahly’s role as a national institution beyond sports, particularly through its community development foundation. El-Khatib expressed personal commitment despite health concerns, noting, “After the draw with Enbi, I felt profound sadness and couldn’t stay away, so I canceled my planned rest period.”

The chairman appealed to general assembly members regarding continued support for community initiatives and emphasized support for athletes with special needs, stating they represent “pride for the Al-Ahly club.”
