Zamalek SC has officially secured the permanent transfer of Moroccan defender Mahmoud Bentayg, exercising their option to buy following his loan spell.
The 25-year-old, who initially joined the Egyptian side from AS Saint-Étienne, shared insights into the negotiation process and his decision to commit his future to the club.
Having impressed the White Knights’ management with his performances, Bentayg has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2026.
His displays throughout the season convinced Zamalek to finalize the deal, ensuring his continued presence in the Egyptian Premier League.
Speaking about the transition from loan player to permanent squad member, Bentayg described the contract negotiations as straightforward.
“Negotiations with Zamalek did not last long and were easy, both with my agent and with Ahmed Hossam Mido, a member of the club’s planning committee,” he revealed.
Since joining the team, the former Raja Casablanca full-back has played a crucial role in Zamalek’s defensive setup.
His ability to contribute offensively has also been notable, with Bentayg registering two goals and three assists in 22 appearances this season, accumulating a total of 1,384 minutes on the pitch.
Zamalek’s decision to activate the purchase clause reflects their confidence in Bentayg’s abilities and long-term potential.
His performances have earned him a key role within the squad, and his versatility as a defender has provided valuable options for the coaching staff.
For Bentayg, securing a permanent contract with Zamalek marks an important step in his career.
The Moroccan international will now focus on further establishing himself as a vital asset for the team as they continue their campaign in domestic and continental competitions.
