Mahmoud Bentayg arrives in Cairo to join Zamalek’s pre-season camp

Mahmoud Bentayg has arrived in Cairo after completing his period of leave and is set to join Zamalek’s preparations for the new season.

The Moroccan player is expected to report to Zamalek’s training camp on Sunday, after the club began its pre-season programme on Saturday in the New Administrative Capital.

Bentayg’s arrival means he will be available to take part in the camp from the second day of preparations. His return follows the end of the holiday period granted to him before the start of the club’s work ahead of the new campaign.

Zamalek opened its preparations on Saturday, with all players scheduled to undergo physical measurements and medical examinations before training begins. Those assessments form the first stage of the club’s preparation programme as the squad builds towards the start of competitive action.

The new Egyptian Premier League season is due to begin on 21 August. The draw for the competition will take place on Wednesday, 5 August.

Zamalek’s camp in the New Administrative Capital is therefore the first stage of the club’s preparations before the league campaign gets under way. Bentayg is due to join the rest of the squad there on Sunday, following his arrival in Cairo.

The club’s opening day of preparation was focused on the initial checks required before the players begin their training programme. Physical measurements and medical tests will be completed for all members of the squad before the team moves into the next phase of its preparations.

Bentayg’s return ensures that he will be present as Zamalek’s pre-season work continues. The 21 August start date leaves the club with a limited period in which to complete its preparations before the Egyptian Premier League begins, while the competition’s fixture draw is scheduled for 5 August.
