Former Egyptian national team player, Maher Hemam, has expressed confidence in Al Ahly’s ability to clinch the CAF Champions League title this season.
He highlighted the exit of strong contenders like Pyramids, Al Hilal Sudan, Esperance de Tunis, and Wydad Casablanca as factors that could facilitate Al Ahly’s quest for the trophy.
Speaking on the “Al Match” program hosted by Hani Hathout on Sada El Balad TV channel, Hemam emphasized the experience possessed by Al Ahly’s players, asserting their readiness to secure the coveted title.
He noted that African clubs often strategize extensively when facing Al Ahly, acknowledging the Cairo-based club’s status as one of the continent’s giants.
Regarding Al Ahly’s journey towards the championship, Hemam remarked, “Al Ahly’s chances of winning the title for the 12th time in its history are significant, especially after the elimination of strong rivals such as Wydad Casablanca, who defeated Al Ahly in the previous edition.”
Hemam also commented on the appointment of Hossam Hassan as the new head coach of the Egyptian national team.
He praised Hassan’s inclusion of top current players in the professional ranks for the national team’s March training camp, expressing optimism about the team’s prospects under Hassan’s leadership following the disappointment of the Africa Cup of Nations campaign under Carlos Queiroz.
