Despite reports suggesting a growing inclination toward representing Algeria, Akliouche recently addressed his absence from France’s U21 (Bleuets) squad. Speaking to L’Équipe, he explained, “It was important for the Espoirs staff and ASM that I could rest. I go where I am told to go.” This diplomatic response did little to quell rumors of a potential switch to Algeria.
His admiration for the Fennecs is no secret. A devoted fan of Algeria since childhood, his uncle revealed, “He doesn’t miss an Algeria match on TV.” However, his no-show at Algeria’s 5-1 win over Liberia and claims of “hamstring discomfort” with the Bleuets have only deepened the intrigue.
