Magesi FC held but remain top as Hope FC return to winning ways

Magesi FC dropped points for the first time this season but stayed at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship after being held by Hungry Lions.

The league leaders took the lead in the first half when Hungry Lions scored an own goal. The hosts responded after the interval to earn a 1-1 draw, leaving Magesi FC with 13 points from their opening five matches.

Hope FC recovered from their recent results with a 1-0 victory over struggling Orbit College in Cape Town. Manelisi Ralasi scored the decisive goal in the second half to secure the win.

There was a six-goal thriller in Kimberly, where AmaTuks and Upington City shared the points in a 3-3 draw. Bafana Ba Gucci are seventh in the table with eight points from five matches.

The Bees also claimed their first win of the campaign, narrowly defeating Lerumo Lions 1-0 at home. The result lifted The Bees out of the relegation places and into 14th position, above Orbit College and Venda FC.

Pressure is mounting on Venda FC manager Clinton Larsen after his side lost 2-0 to Real Native. Lelethu Skelem and Lungelo Dondolo scored for Real Native, who moved up to second place.
