Lyon head coach Pierre Sage has omitted Wilfried Zaha and Gift Orban from the squad for Sunday’s Ligue 1 match against OGC Nice, signaling a possible shift in the club’s priorities. Despite their potential, neither forward has been able to secure a prominent role under Sage’s leadership.
Gift Orban, 22, has managed two goals in three league appearances but has yet to convince the manager since joining the team.
Wilfried Zaha, 32, has also struggled to integrate, making three appearances without establishing himself as a regular.
For Zaha, a winter departure appears restricted by FIFA rules, limiting his return to Galatasaray, the club loaning him to Lyon, as players are barred from representing more than two teams in a single season.
The decisions suggest a reduced role for both players within Lyon’s tactical setup, leaving their futures uncertain as the January transfer window approaches.
