Luton manager Rob Edwards expresses concerns over Elijah Adebayo’s injury

Luton manager Rob Edwards expresses concerns over Elijah Adebayo's injury

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has voiced apprehensions regarding the severity of Elijah Adebayo’s injury, raising fears that the striker’s season may be prematurely cut short.

The club’s leading goalscorer sustained a significant hamstring injury during the warm-up session ahead of their fixture against Manchester United, dealing a blow to Luton’s aspirations on the pitch.

Speaking candidly about Adebayo’s condition, Edwards expressed his concerns, stating, “Potentially, his hamstring is worse.

We were in a position where he was feeling good and we were pushing, he was pushing as well, and he felt it again, so we’ve got to be really careful now.”

Acknowledging the limited timeframe remaining in the season, Edwards refrained from definitively ruling out Adebayo’s participation but emphasized the need for cautious management of the injury.

“There’s not long left of the season now is there, so I don’t want to say that yet, but he’s going to be longer, he’s not going to be back after the (international) break,” Edwards remarked.

The absence of Adebayo, a pivotal figure in Luton’s offensive and defensive strategies, poses significant challenges for the team.

Edwards highlighted Adebayo’s multifaceted contributions, stating, “Eli doesn’t just help us from an attacking point of view, he helps us defend set-pieces, sets that press.”

While the team continues to demonstrate resilience in front of goal, Edwards emphasized the importance of having key players available for selection.

Adebayo’s absence leaves a void within the squad, underscoring the significance of his presence on matchdays.

As Luton navigates the remainder of the season, Edwards and his coaching staff face the daunting task of managing Adebayo’s injury while striving for success on the pitch.

The striker’s recovery timeline remains uncertain, casting a shadow of uncertainty over Luton’s aspirations as they seek to overcome this setback and continue their pursuit of glory.
