Lukas Nmecha: ‘I can’t wait to get started at Leeds United’

Germany-born forward of Nigerian descent, Lukas Nmecha, has stated that he is eager to get started at his new club, Leeds United.

Speaking in his first interview after joining the club, the striker said, “I wish we could get going now, but we still have a few weeks of pre-pre-season, getting the runs in and all that! But, I just can’t wait to start training now.”

He added, “Of course, in the Premier League, there’s some big boys in there where you can’t play like that all the time, but I think the idea of the manager is to play good football, possession football, and that’s what I’m used to and what I love doing.

Lukas Nmecha, 26, completed his switch to Leeds United on Sunday, June 15. He has signed a two-year contract after leaving VfL Wolfsburg.

Leeds United, in a statement announcing the arrival of the forward, said, “Leeds United are delighted to announce Lukas Nmecha has agreed to join the club on an initial two-year contract when his current deal expires at VfL Wolfsburg.

“The 26-year-old forward will officially become a Leeds United player on July 1st and is the first confirmed arrival for Daniel Farke’s side of the summer transfer window, having spent the last four years playing in the Bundesliga.

“Having fought off competition from other Premier League sides for his services, everyone at Leeds United looks forward to welcoming Lukas to Elland Road.”
