Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has thrown his full support behind Morocco international Achraf Hakimi to be crowned the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year.
Hakimi played a starring role in PSG’s historic 2024/25 campaign, helping the French giants secure a remarkable treble that included their maiden UEFA Champions League title.
The 26-year-old full-back registered an outstanding 11 goals and 16 assists across all competitions, underlining his immense influence on both ends of the pitch.
“Hakimi for African Ballon d’Or? For me, he’s without a doubt the best right-back in the world,” Enrique said.
“He’s always at 100%. That’s why we haven’t signed any right-back: you just can’t spend on a backup who’ll only get three games.”
Hakimi faces stiff competition for the continental honour from some of Africa’s elite stars, including Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen.
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, who dazzled with Atalanta last season, claimed the award in 2024.
