Borussia Dortmund forward Serhou Guirassy has bounced back in style after a difficult spell in front of goal this season.
The Guinean striker went through a run of games without scoring, raising questions about his form, but he has responded emphatically with five goals in his last three Bundesliga matches. His sharp movement, penalty-box instincts and renewed confidence have quickly put talk of a slump behind him.
Despite that earlier drought, German legend Lothar Matthaus has never doubted Guirassy’s quality or suitability for Dortmund. “He fits in very well at Dortmund. I hope and wish for Dortmund that they see the Guirassy who came from Stuttgart. He was their lifeline with his goals, he got them into the Champions League and scored there too. For me, he is one of the best strikers in Europe,” the 64-year-old said on Sky90.
Matthaus’s praise underlines how highly Guirassy is regarded after his prolific stint at Stuttgart and his growing impact in Dortmund’s attack.
If he maintains this scoring rhythm, he can again become a decisive figure in the Bundesliga title race and in Dortmund’s push for Champions League success.
