The international break has provided a much-needed rest for Lorient and their coach, Christian Gourcuff, who has seen several key players sidelined due to injuries. The break has allowed some players, including the injured Gabonese international Bruno Ecuele Manga, to recover and be available for the upcoming matches.
Gourcuff expressed relief about the timing of the break, stating, “It’s good that we’re not playing this weekend because we would have still had a diminished team. This only confirms the weakness of the group on a physical level.” Ecuele Manga, who was injured during Lorient’s recent defeat against Bastia, is expected to be back in action for the next game against Saint-Etienne.
Additionally, the coach mentioned the expected return of other players like Lamine Koné and Gilles Sunu, providing much-needed strength to the squad. Gourcuff emphasized the importance of having a full-strength team as they prepare for a challenging upcoming schedule. Lorient currently sits in 18th place in the Ligue 1 standings.
