Vincent Aboubakar Attracts Interest from Benfica and Bundesliga Clubs
After an impressive 2013-2014 campaign with Lorient, Cameroonian striker Vincent Aboubakar continued his strong start to the 2014-2015 Ligue 1 season by scoring on the opening day against Monaco. However, his future in France appears uncertain as several clubs have expressed interest in securing his services.
According to reports from Eurosport, Portuguese giants Benfica have tabled a substantial offer for the former Coton Sport de Garoua forward. Lorient, however, are holding out for a transfer fee in the region of €10 million to €15 million before allowing Aboubakar to leave.
In addition to Benfica, German Bundesliga clubs Wolfsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach are reportedly pursuing the 22-year-old striker, eager to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.
Aboubakar’s goal-scoring ability and consistent performances have made him one of the most sought-after young forwards in Europe, with his next move likely to be a significant step in his career progression.
